最近有一位老师（香港科技大学的），咨询用自己的域名制作课题组主页。有些问题，可能是老师们有共同疑问的，接触中，有些内容不可能会面面俱到的给说出来，这里汇总下常见的细节，供大家参考。

1）自己的域名，制作课题组主页，网址能保留多久啊？

原则上，自己注册域名的网站，只要按时给域名、服务器续费，可以一直存在。
如果是国内的服务器，需要走备案流程。

2）服务器方面

这位老师自己购买好了域名和服务器
可以用这些来制作课题组主页的。服务器多数主机商都支持重装系统或者按需配置网站所需的环境。
不过，香港科技大学也提供主机服务的，这里引用学校网站显示的部分文字

有Drupal平台、ihost、Virtual Server几种大类，详见 Web Hosting Solution Overview，前两者免费，最后一种Virtual Server是要收费的（详见：https://itso.hkust.edu.hk/cgi-bin/vaas/svcplans.html）。

3）域名的选择

如果用学校的drupal平台的话，域名情况如下（点击阅读详情）

Faculties or departments that wish to host their website on HKUST Drupal Platform can apply for a domain name in the ust.hk name space for easy reference. 

如果用ihost的话，学校说（点击阅读详情）

Faculties or departments that wish to host their website on iHost can apply for a domain name in the hkust.edu.hk name space for easy reference.

请留意，ihost申请下来的是edu.hk的域名。这种带有edu的域名，在一些场合，个人认为更好一些。请根据需求选择合适的。
记得用ihost网站上线前学校似乎有做过安全漏洞检查才给发布的，好几年前的事情了，记得很模糊了。

4）其他方案，个人主页（ Personal Homepage）

根据网站介绍

The personal homepage service has been revamped with enhanced security, dedicated site address, and it allows user to run PHP programs.

不同人员，域名形式如下（详见：https://itso.hkust.edu.hk/services/general-it-services/communication-collaboration/home）

For Staff /Emeritus: <account name>.people.ust.hk
For Students: <account name>.student.ust.hk

这个也支持mysql数据库
实际第4个这个方案也是不错的，还有给学生的主页，这个是很棒的。
